She received the award for her special therapeutic wound dressing.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"402\" data-end=\"612\">Nanordica Medical develops wound care products that not only prevent infections but also help wounds heal more quickly. The wound dressing uses a unique blend of silver and copper instead of traditional silver.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"614\" data-end=\"1022\">The company led by Bondarenko grew out of the <a href=\"https:\/\/kbfi.ee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laboratory of Chemical and Biological Physics at the Institute of Physics<\/a>. Research conducted at the laboratory revealed that combining silver and copper made the antibacterial effect in wound care up to six times stronger. This scientific discovery led to the idea of creating a wound dressing that would be significantly more effective than existing solutions.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1024\" data-end=\"1212\">The award came as a pleasant surprise to Bondarenko. \u201cThis will definitely open new doors. On the same day, I received multiple contacts from investors and potential partners,\u201d she said.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<blockquote data-start=\"1214\" data-end=\"1341\">\r\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1216\" data-end=\"1341\">\u201cThis will definitely open new doors. On the same day, I received multiple contacts from investors and potential partners.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1343\" data-end=\"1577\">Currently, clinical trials of the product are taking place in leading hospitals in Spain, and they will soon expand to Estonia. \u201cIn April, we are expecting patients with diabetic foot ulcers to participate in the trials in Estonia.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1579\" data-end=\"1883\">Progress has been hindered by the complex regulatory environment and the need to convince investors in the early stages of the company. \u201cEach use case still requires separate approval from the Health Board and the Ethics Committee. We are working full speed to obtain the full marketing authorisation.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1885\" data-end=\"2123\">To test the technology on the market, the company launched a veterinary wound dressing based on the same technology last year. The product is now available in several European countries and has received positive feedback from pet clinics.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2125\" data-end=\"2505\">When asked what advice she would give to a young woman considering combining science and entrepreneurship, Bondarenko simply and warmly responded: \u201cDo it! Women tend to be modest and often think, \u2018Why me?\u2019 I thought the same. But if you are a woman and you are waiting for a sign from the universe to start a business, well, here it is,\u201d Bondarenko said, offering encouragement.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<blockquote data-start=\"2507\" data-end=\"2678\">\r\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"2509\" data-end=\"2678\">\u201cIf you want to move fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Our team is amazing \u2013 we are driven by the desire to help millions of chronic wound patients.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2680\" data-end=\"2932\">In conclusion, she emphasised that this recognition is a result of the whole team. \u201cIf you want to move fast, go alone.
